crAppstore not saving the world, just making crApp

Terms of Service

Read this first: This is a plain-English template. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer. It is not legal advice. Before crAppstore launches paid subscriptions, a qualified lawyer in the relevant jurisdiction should review and adjust it. Certified 100% crAppy applies to the crApps, not to legal drafting.

Beta status: right now the beta is on, everything on the shop is free, and no subscription bills anyone. These Terms describe how the service works once payments switch on.

1. Who you're dealing with

crAppstore ("crAppstore", "we", "us") is operated by Alex Alexander, sole proprietor, from Dallas, Texas.

Contact: integritylanddevelopment@gmail.com

By using crappstore.com or any crApp we provide, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please don't use the service.

2. What the service is

crAppstore is a marketplace for very small web apps ("crApps").

  • crApps run in your web browser. There is nothing to download and nothing to install.
  • When you subscribe to a crApp, we email you a private link. That link is your access.
  • Some crApps can be added to your phone's home screen as an icon. This is a browser feature. It does not make it a native app.
  • The crApp Factory is a separate subscription that helps you build your own crApp and, on higher tiers, list it on this site.

We may add, change, or remove crApps at any time. See section 8.

3. Your account and your link

  • You must give us a working email address. Your private link is sent there.
  • Your link is for you. Do not post it publicly, resell it, or share it with a crowd. Sharing with a household member is fine; posting it on a forum is not.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your link. If you think it has leaked, email us and we will issue a new one.
  • You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and at least 13 years old. See the Privacy Policy for more on children's data.

4. Subscriptions and billing

  • Each crApp is its own subscription, sold as the same app at three versions: $0.99, $4.99 or $9.99 per month. During the beta every version is free.
  • The crApp Factory is a separate monthly subscription with tiers at 99¢, $9.99, and $19.99 per month.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe. They never touch our servers and we never see your full card number.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically every month on the date you subscribed, until you cancel.
  • Prices are in US dollars and do not include tax unless stated. If tax applies where you live, it may be added at checkout.
  • We can change prices. If we do, we will email you at least 30 days before the new price applies to your subscription. If you don't like the new price, cancel before it takes effect.
  • If a payment fails, we may retry it. If it keeps failing, your access may stop.

5. Cancelling, and what happens to your access

  • You can cancel any time. No phone call, no exit interview.
  • When you cancel, your subscription stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for.
  • After that, your private link stops working. That is normal and expected. It is not a bug.
  • You are not buying a permanent copy of anything. You are paying for ongoing access to a hosted app.
  • You can subscribe again later. You will get a new link.

Refunds are covered separately in our Refund and Cancellation Policy.

6. If you sell your own crApp here

If you use the crApp Factory to list a crApp on crAppstore:

  • You keep ownership of what you build. You give us permission to host it, show it on the site, and sell access to it while it is listed.
  • You promise the crApp is yours to sell, does not infringe anyone's rights, and does not contain malware or hidden data collection.
  • We decide what goes on the shop. We can decline a submission or remove a listing.
  • Payouts, revenue share, and timing are set out in a separate seller agreement, published before the crApp Factory opens.
  • You are responsible for your own taxes on anything you earn.

7. Acceptable use

Please don't:

  • Break the law with our apps, or use them to harm anyone.
  • Try to break into, overload, scrape at scale, or reverse-engineer the service.
  • Share, resell, or sublicense your private link.
  • Upload or generate content that is illegal, harassing, or infringing.
  • Impersonate someone else, or use a stolen card.
  • Remove or hide any notices we put in an app.

If you do any of this, we may suspend or end your access.

8. We may change or remove a crApp

These are small apps and they evolve.

  • We may update, change, pause, or retire any crApp at any time.
  • If we retire a crApp you are actively paying for, we will email you and cancel that subscription so you are not billed again.
  • We do not promise any particular crApp will exist forever, or that it will keep any particular feature.

9. No warranty — apps ship as-is

Every crApp ships as-is and as-available.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

In normal words:

  • We do not promise the service will always be up, fast, or error-free.
  • We do not promise a crApp will fit your particular need.
  • We do not promise the output of any crApp is accurate, complete, or suitable to rely on.
  • Do not use a crApp as your only source for anything that matters — legal, medical, financial, or safety decisions included. Check the important stuff yourself.

Some places do not allow these exclusions. If you live in one, some of the above may not apply to you.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows:

  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages — including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption — arising from your use of the service.
  • Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you actually paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.

This is a product that costs a few dollars a month at most. The limits are proportionate to that.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

11. Ending your access

  • You can stop any time by cancelling and not using the service.
  • We can suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if your payment fails repeatedly, if we are required to by law, or if we shut down the service.
  • If we end your access because you broke the rules, you are not owed a refund.
  • If we end your access for our own reasons (for example, we retire the service), we will refund the unused part of the period you already paid for.

12. Intellectual property

  • We own crAppstore, the site, the branding, and the crApps we made, unless stated otherwise.
  • Your subscription gives you permission to use a crApp for your own purposes while your subscription is active. It does not transfer ownership.
  • Anything you create *using* a crApp is yours.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the courts of Dallas County, Texas, United States.

These Terms do not include an arbitration clause or a class-action waiver. Disputes go to the courts named above.

Before starting anything formal, please email us. Most problems with an app this small can be solved with one message.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms.

  • The "Last updated" date at the top will change.
  • If a change materially affects your rights, we will email active subscribers at least 30 days before it takes effect.
  • If you keep using the service after a change takes effect, that means you accept it. If you don't accept it, cancel.

15. The small print

  • Whole agreement. These Terms, plus the Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, are the full agreement between us about the service.
  • If part of this is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
  • If we don't enforce something once, we haven't given up the right to enforce it later.
  • You can't transfer your account or subscription to someone else without our okay. We may transfer our side if the business is sold.

16. Eligibility

You must be 18 or older, or have a parent or guardian agree on your behalf. The shop is not built for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their information.

17. Beta terms

  • During the beta every version is free. Nothing bills anyone.
  • Anyone who joins during the beta keeps free access, after the beta ends, to the crApps they took during it.
  • That promise covers crApps that still exist. A retired crApp is gone for everyone, free or paid.
  • The beta is where things break. Expect rough edges, and say something when you find one.

18. Your feedback

If you send an idea or a bug report, the shop may use it to improve things, with no obligation and no payment. Do not send anything you consider secret.

19. The services behind the shop

Payments run through Stripe, hosting and the database through Vercel and Supabase, and email through the shop's mail provider. Their terms govern their part, and an outage at any of them is an outage here.

20. No partnership

Buying a crApp does not make you a partner, employee or agent of the shop, and it does not make the shop yours.

21. The rest of the rules

These documents are part of the same agreement: Acceptable Use, Privacy, Refunds & Cancellation, Cookies, Copyright & Takedowns, crApp Factory Contributor Terms, Security and Accessibility.
